God's Creation

This group is a tribute to our Creator, therefore for wallpapers of nature, people, animals, natural wonders like sky, clouds, earth, planets, universe and anything that can be contributed to our Creator. What not to send: abstracts, art & paintings, your creative wallpapers where you add things or, any altered nature. Images of people should not feature heavy make-up and extremes of any kind. The key is natural, unspoiled.

Wallpaper Description:

On January 6th, I had the good fortune to see Sun dogs with my camera handy. :)

Cirrus clouds distorted the left sundog a bit in this photo. The jet airplane, just to the left of the sundog was a bonus. I thought some of my photos had jets in them but I didn’t know for certain until I looked at the photo on my computer. How exciting it must have been for the people on that plane to see the sundog! :D

ABOUT SUN DOGS
Sun dogs are 2 bright spots that sometimes appear on either side of the sun when it is near the horizon. They are caused by thin layers of high ice crystal clouds, called cirrus clouds. They can appear at any time of the year, but are more commonly seen on cold Winter days. Sometimes they resemble two small 2 bright suns, and at other times they may each look like a bit of rainbow.

Sun dogs got their common name because they follow the sun like a dog follows it's master. They are also called mock suns, phantom suns, parlions, or solar parhelia.
