Muscle Cars

Celebrating the coolest cars ever made, nothing like the sound of that engine when you turn that key.

Muscle car is an American term used to refer to a variety of high-performance automobiles. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines muscle cars as "any of a group of American-made 2-door sports cars with powerful engines designed for high-performance driving." A large V8 engine is fitted in a 2 or 4 door, rear wheel drive, family-style full-size car designed for four or more passengers. Sold at an affordable price, muscle cars are intended for street use and occasional drag racing. They are distinct from two-seat sports cars and expensive 2+2 GTs intended for high-speed touring and road racing.

Field of Dreams Camaro
The father and son team of Frank and Marcus Allen run a very impressive '69 Camaro Super Stocker based out of Colorado. Their Jail Break Racing team car was rescued as it sat idle in a farmer's field in 1991 before being taken to Quick Performance (Ames, Iowa) where it became a race car. It was originally run in Super Street (10.90) before being converted to a Super Stock car. The present-day version (SS/D) features a 396ci engine program from Laniers Speed Shop. Driver Marcus shifts the power through a four-speed Jerico manual transmission. To date the car has run in the high 9.6-second zone. However, the team reports that a new engine will be introduced by the fall of 2013. Expectations with the new bullet are 9.4-second elapsed times and 140-mph trap speeds.
